Japanese climber perishes
Collapsing on descent The climber, whose name has not been released, collapsed shortly after starting the descent, according to a report by expedition leader Yoshitomi Okura. The expedition was organized by Tokyo-based Adventure Guides Co. “A Nepalese Sherpa gave the man a heart massage but he died,” states Asahi.com. “His body was buried in the snow as a temporary measure.” According to Asahi, the deceased climber has passed a health check prior to the beginning of the expedition. He had attempted Everest twice before and summited Cho Oyu back in 2003. This is the second casualty on Everest this year. On April 26, altitude worker Dawa Sherpa died on the south side, at a crevasse falling between C2 and C3.
